5 Anchor Verses in an Upside-Down World

anchor1Do we feel a tad squeamish when turning to the evening news? Do thoughts of what we’ll hear this time make our hearts tighten?

The state of our union has been discussed, analyzed, argued, and criticized. Every media source is loaded with “experts” telling us how to think and what to feel.

Everyone has an answer.

But no one seems to know what to do and where to turn.

Maybe a little perspective is in order.

The following are a few of my anchor verses—verses that calm my heart and mind when the chaos of this world seems overwhelming.

I pray they will minister to you today.

Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. (Psalm 27:3)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2)

I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. (Romans 8:38-39 MSG)

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? (Psalm 56:3-4)

(Unless otherwise noted, Scripture is NIV)

Father God, the power and comfort of Your Word continues to amaze me. I long for Your peace in this nation I love. Thank you, Father, for Your faithfulness and for being our True Anchor.

What verses guide your heart and give you strength?

Have a blessed week!

Joyfully,

Leigh Ann 🙂
