true-and-false

Part 2:  God Can’t/Won’t Use Me—I’m Too Flawed

I’m convinced that this is one of the biggest lies/myths Christians believe. And there’s even a touch of pride in believing it—like we’re being all modest and noble: I’m just not qualified. Someone else will do a better job. My past is kind of, um, a mess.   Continue reading

3 Myths Christians Believe—Part 1

The last days and weeks in the good ‘ole USA have been, um…unusual. Unsettling. Worthy of serious hand-wringing.

Many Christians have soul-sighed, “Oh, for cryin’ out loud. Why don’t those sinners just stop, you know, sinning? Come on, Lord…repair those reprobates and all will be right with the world.”

Which leads us to the first myth or falsehood we as Christians sometimes believe:   Continue reading

When It’s Time to Run

stormpicDistant thunder rolled and rumbled as a rainstorm moved through the area. My middle grandson watched mesmerized as water pelted the windows and puddles formed outside his house where we were spending the morning together.

His 18-month-old body wriggled with excitement and wonder as he stayed by his rain-watching post.

Then came a flash of lightening and my warning to move back from the window. He looked at me, unsure of what to do. Then…

Better Things

Father God, thank you for the promise of forever with You. Thank you for the perspective, purpose, and motivation it gives on this life journey. I love You, Jesus.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better (Philippians 1:23).

I pray your week is blessed.

Joyfully,

Leigh Ann 🙂

To the One Who Calms the Storms

stronghold-meme-3

Lord, our hearts ache for those devastated by the recent hurricane. For those who have lost loved ones, we pray for Your comfort in their lives. Make us sensitive to their needs. May Your Holy Spirit open our eyes to genuine, practical ways to reach the ones who are hurting. Help us to look beyond our time of simple inconvenience to those who are clinging to any promise of hope.

And Father, we pray for those on the front lines of rescue and restoration. For every emergency worker, utility worker, state and community leader—we pray for their safety and strength.

Father God, thank you for being our Stronghold and Deliverer. You are Master over every storm in our lives. In every wave that washes over us, help us to see Your hand and to know that You remain in control.

Thank you, Jesus. We love You.

Please join me in praying for the families devastated by Hurricane Matthew—especially those in Haiti.

In Christ,

Leigh Ann

Whatcha Thinkin’ About?

finally brothers

Father God, I pray that my thought-life will belong to You. Help me to never settle for simply thinking good thoughts. May I daily immerse myself in Your Word so that my inmost self is molded and shaped by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Thank you, Father, for the life of obedience, strength, and joy that results from pursuing Your heart and mind. I love You, Jesus.

Praying that you have a Phil. 4:8 week!

Joyfully,

Leigh Ann 🙂

Go for the Gold!

Image result for olympicsHave you caught it? You know, Olympic fever.

That marvelous illness that makes us want to set a timer when we run to the mailbox. Awesome. I obliterated my last time by four seconds. Bam.

I’m completely hooked. Yesterday I jumped from our front porch swing and stuck the landing.

Another bam.

Even my 2 ½ -year-old grandson jumps around “competing,” then stops and places his hand over his heart. I guess it’s never too early to practice your victorious national anthem stance. Continue reading
