A Reminder of Our Worth

valueGod’s idea of our worth is vastly different from the world’s view. If we’re to believe the messages that pour from print and social media, we need to be smart, strong, thin, successful, and wealthy to have a place of value.

I’m so thankful to serve a God Who loves and treasures us like we are!

When we’ve gained a few pounds and we’re doing a great job of self-recrimination—God sees the deepest places of our hearts and draws us to Him.

When our lives never measure up to someone else’s Facebook highlight reel—God whispers His love and faithfulness and calls us to seek Him only.

When we wonder if we matter, if what we do ever makes a difference—God reminds us that we are His, the apple of His eye, His cherished one, here for moments such as this.

Need more reassurance? Meditate on these verses and see if your heart doesn’t quicken with hope:

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

(He loves us at our worst! Even when we’re a hot mess.)

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows (Luke 12:6-7).

(Amazing. God knows us like only the Creator can—intimately, to every joint and fiber.)

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:13-16).

(We have been loved and cherished and treasured from the moment we entered God’s heart.)

Beautiful, extravagant love.

Have a blessed week and know you are treasured!

Joyfully,

Leigh Ann 🙂
